Oleg Tumanov has been playing the piano since he was a child. And he has been composing music for almost as long.
His first real breakthrough saw him work with the legendary Cuban and Brazilian musicians of the Rio Havana project where Oleg worked with many of the top musicians from all over the world. From Latin pianist Chucho Valdes to bossa nova legend Joao Donato, via Brazilian singer Emilio Santiago, Oleg’s genius opened fully. Alongside collaborations with Valdes, Donato and Santiago, Oleg’s music is the backdrop to beautiful, incendiary, dancefloor friendly tunes for the likes of Leny Andrade and Wanda Sa.
The fusion of jazz and soul - and of Brazil and Cuba - make Rio Havana a unique and special album. Blend in Oleg’s distinctive talent for producing memorable tunes this becomes an album no music fan can be without. The Rio Havana project has now been running for five years. It has been recently released with new art design.

Timothy Johnson – Silence speaks volumes
Timothy Johnson is that rarest of things in modern music - an original. He is both a composer with an aesthete’s ear and a performer of genuine emotional depth.
His debut album - ‘The Geometry of Silence’ - showcases of all that is best about his music. It is made up of thoughtful and complex piano compositions, while at the same time being accessible, modern and light.
Timothy’s talent is his ability to work around and modify standard forms - giving the listener subtle surprises while enjoying something deceptively familiar.
There are two pieces for solo piano and two for three pianos in this suite of songs, with each showcasing a different part of Timothy’s ability.
The opening track, ‘Sky Through The Trees’, creates subtle changes in pattern by shifting velocity, while the next - ‘Parallel Lines’ - has three pianos playing the same pattern in different keys. The title track has three pianos interwoven over the top of each other to create a rich and textured sound, and the finale - ‘Way Out’ - is the darkest of the four.
Over all, ‘The Geometry of Silence’ is an album that will have any discerning fan of brave, inventive and intelligent music foaming at the mouth. But, although Timothy’s music is best described as impressionistic minimalist, it is also melodic and easy on the ear.
Perhaps the mix of the accessible and the challenging is a product of Timothy’s background in music. In many ways, he is the definition of a renaissance man. He has studied classical composition, worked in musical theatre and composed film scores. He has also filmed, edited and written music for several videos - primarily for non-profit organizations.
But with the release of his first solo project, Timothy is going back to what he loves doing most, with the added insight provided by his previous work in the visual arts. As he explains, his music has moved from creating a melodic space to making a visual one.
Timothy Johnson may be a new name to many, but that is something which is about to change. ‘The Geometry of Silence’ is an album that rewards the listener more with each passing play. It is beautiful and difficult and intriguing all at the same time. And it should find its way onto your CD rack soon.
‘The Geometry of Silence’ is out now.

The Blue Suede Crew
Blue Suede Crew - More than a Tribute
The Blue Suede Crew is very far from your everyday tribute act. These boys, steeped in the history of Rock n’ Roll, Gospel, Country and the Memphis Blues, don’t just play the songs of their heroes - Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash - they embody their very spirit.
The Crew will demonstrate not just their undoubted musical talents, but also their ability to put on a barnstorming, show-stopping performance for our troops when they take the stage at a USO show in Camp Atterbury, Indiana on Saturday December 5. It promises to be a wild, raucous night, celebrating everything that is best about honest American music.
And anyone who simply cannot wait to sample some of the finest Rock n’ Roll, Country and Blues you are not likely to hear anywhere else in the world can now hear the Crew in all its glory on the ‘Sun Sessions’ album available at shows or online at www.bluesuedecrew.com.
Recorded in the very same Memphis studio that saw both Elvis and Cash make some of their finest work, the album is a testament to The Blue Suede Crew’s love and mastery of the gospel and blues sound.
Produced by legendary Sun studio engineer James Lott, who oversaw U2’s 1988 ‘Rattle and Hum’ record, ‘Sun Sessions’ is a perfect combination of homage and the new. The band takes traditional music but gives it an unmistakably modern twist. In many ways, it’s exactly what Cash and Elvis did all those years ago, in the very same place.
From the stand-up bass playing of George Miller and the tight rhythms of Dave Stephens, through Rock n’ Roll survivor Bobby Reynolds on guitar, and on to the charismatic Scott Wattles on vocals that make you believe The King is reborn, this group packs one heck of a punch!
Add in Keith Furry as Johnny Cash, the additional vocals of Jan Daily as June Carter, an incendiary horn section led by Glen ‘Lips’ Lewis, the soulful backing vocals of DaJaVu’ and you have a band ready to take on the world.
Anyone who likes Cash, Elvis or just great music will love The Blue Suede Crew. Catch them while they’re hot!
