Ava Cherry Work That Body
Ava Cherry - Still Working It
Ava Cherry may not be a name familiar to everyone, but over many years in the business this soul sensation has been the voice behind some of the biggest stars out there. From David Bowie to Luther Vandross, Ava has worked with the lot. She’s been choreographed by Paula Abdul and is even friends with the Rolling Stones, so her starry credentials are up their with the best. But now it is time for this soldier to become a general, and Ava has made the step up in some style. With a new album coming out in the first quarter of 2010, Ava has announced herself to the world with the release of the unapologetic club banger that is ‘Work That Body’. It is a tune that will see dance floors filled from London to Los Angeles, appealing to ravers old school and new as well as anyone who loves soulful, funky dance music. Besides anything else, ‘Work That Body’ is the sound of an artist breaking out of the background with a veritable war-cry of emotion. It is aimed at clubs, gyms or anywhere in which people want to move and is sure to be one of the hits of the year.
It is as positive and life-affirming a piece of music as you are likely to hear and is the perfect way for an artist with a wealth of experience in the business to finally break into the mainstream.
And what higher endorsement can you receive than being reviewed by Mojo? The discerning music-lover’s magazine of choice will be featuring Ava’s work in its January issue.
Influenced by soul legends such as Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan, Ava has already forged a great career as a backing singer for modern greats. She has toured with David Bowie, spent ten years on the road with Luther Vandross and has even worked with the great Curtis Mayfield.
Her voice is sexy, passionate, soulful and full of emotion. It is the voice of someone not only with an exceptional talent, but also someone who has lived a life devoted to music. It is a voice that demands to be heard. And as a former top international model, Ava’s performance in the equally fiery video is one no one will want to miss.
The full album, appropriately named ‘Lifesongs’, will follow in February. Another single, the delectable ‘So Delicious’ is also on its way into the shops, as is an anthology of previous work and the exciting prospect of a tribute song to Luther Vandross, co-written by the man himself.
All in all, it’s shaping up to be quite a year for the force of nature that is Ava Cherry.
But for now, Ava Cherry has invited us to work our bodies - and the world will find it’s an invitation hard to turn down.
The release party for the single was held at Chicago’s Kerasotes Theater complex on September 15 and she already has a new legion of friends and fans. It looks like it’s just the start for Ava Cherry.

I think she is great, im originally a Bowie fan and have been quite familiar with all her works, yes Curtis Mayfield also was a true musical genius. She has alot of merit just from the artists you mentioned. The best to Ava for her courage and life long staying power. She still rocks, I hope the musical community takes notice.
