Iconic rock drummer leads young drummers into performance fervor “Stomp on steroids” - The Radio Chick

New York, NY - Carmine Appice’s SLAMM!! - the “stomp on steroids” drum act led by the drummer icon and currently taking the USA by storm - is set to perform on Saturday, April 17th at the Sherman Theater, 524 Main Street in Stroudsburg, PA.

Created by legendary drummer Carmine Appice, SLAMM is an exhilarating, physically combustible theatrical percussion show featuring insanely talented musicians and the rock master, Carmine Appice. Author, clinician, drummer, philanthropist, Appice first came to prominence as the percussionist with the late 1960s psychedelic band Vanilla Fudge. He contributed distinctive background harmonies with bassist Tim Bogert, adding to the group’s high decibel sonic assault. After five albums, Appice and Bogert left Vanilla Fudge to form the blues rock quartet Cactus with vocalist Rusty Day and guitarist Jim McCarty. Eventually, Appice left Cactus with Bogert to join Jeff Beck in the power trio Beck, Bogert & Appice, and then later joined Rod Stewart’s backing band in 1977, co-writing hit songs such as “Do Ya Think I’m Sexy?” and “Young Turks”. In 1978, Appice played drums on Paul Stanley’s first solo album.

The talented breakout duo from Miami, Florida, calling themselves Blood Type, has recently released its first mixtape and can after 2 months already boast nearly 100,000 downloads. Their work has a fresh effervescence, as well as a familiar vibe. Blood Type excites with its edgy lyrics, while the undertones of neo-soul and jazz brilliantly finds the listeners’ comfort zone.

MIAliens is the breakout work that is bringing attention to the South Floridians whose initial goal was to show the music world that there was more to Southern Hip-Hop than had made its way to the air waves between the 1990s and the present. The name MIAliens is a reference to the 1996 album ATLiens, released by southern hip hop duo Outkast.RefinedHype.com writes, “Are these guys the next Outkast? No, but no one’s the next Outkast. Instead their something better, the next Blood Type.” Lyrical content had not reigned supreme in the genre till now, but Blood Type seeks to diversify what had been and bring Southern Hip-Hop to a new place. MIAliens comes not to change the genre, but to grow it, to expand it, and to expose new possibilities.

RECORDING ARTIST TRICIA GREENWOOD UNVEILS NEW VALENTINE SINGLE WITH OLD SCHOOL STYLE

Baby, You’re My Valentine” Makes Couples Swoon Around the World Singer and Songwriter Tricia Greenwood’s new song, “Baby, You’re MyValentine,” evokes emotions that span generations of love. Just released on iTunes in the UK, the sound waves are as busy as Cupid’s arrow sending this romantic song around the world right on time.

Greenwood says, “I wrote this Valentine’s Day song to create more romance and as a reminder of the reasons we first fell in love from the first kiss to the silly things we did, and what’s special about each other. I believe in true love and making great memories is a big part in what makes love last. The act of courting is exciting, whether we go out or stay in on a romantic date, the feeling is what it’s all about. ” This is a song to listen to and send in an email or as a ringtone to someone you love on Valentine’s Day.

Greenwood enlisted her friend, jazz guitarist Dan Nieckarz, for lead guitar, Vinson Hudson on bass and drums, and Leelee Stone on harmony vocals. Greenwood says, “After recording the main tracks of the song with Vinson, I got together with Russell Bond from the Music Annex in Menlo Park, CA. Russell is the guy in the music business with golden ears.

Russell listened to the rough mix a few times and said, “I like it! All you need are harmony vocals on this song.” Say no more. I called Leelee Stone, who has previously recorded with me on two other songs. Russell recorded Leelee’s vocals. He is amazing to work with.”

The song was mixed and mastered at Vinson Hudson’s private studio in Redwood City, CA. Hudson says, “The music business is changing. Tricia’s song, “Baby You’re My Valentine,” falls into a category of new music with old school sensibility, which is something I like. Tricia is someone with a genuine love for music, something you don’t see very much anymore.” This

Valentine’s Day song ended up a co-engineered, co-mixed collaboration of love. “Baby, You’re My Valentine,” is a refreshing song that kindles sparks of love with a beat that DJs can download and spin in their remix. 20 Buck Spin announces today a joint label showcase at SXSW this year with our comrades at Profound Lore Records. The two underground metal labels have been friendly for some time and agreed that SXSW could use something beyond the usual suspects this year. Each label will bring three bands from their respective, constantly growing rosters. 20 Buck Spin will bring Brooklyn NY’s black metal futurists Liturgy, Providence, RI’s chaotic whirlwind schizos The White Mice and Toronto’s violence prone The Endless Blockade. Profound Lore brings a mix of new and veteran talent in the form of Indiana’s blackened doom bringers Coffinworm, Virginia amp destroyers Salome and Chicago scene vets Yakuza.

The show will take place on Friday March 19th at Headhunters Club located at 720 Red River Street in Austin. The show will be opened by two bands not associated with either 20 Buck Spin or Profound Lore at approximately 7 p.m. Those bands will be announced shortly. Additionally our long-time friend David D’Andrea has created exclusive poster artwork for the showcase.
20 Buck Spin has existed since 2005 and is based in Olympia, Washington. It is home to the above mentioned bands and others including Samothrace, Coffins, Laudanum, Stormcrow and more.
Profound Lore Records has existed since 2004 and is based in Toronto, Ontario. It is home to acts like Cobalt, Krallice, Bloody Panda, and Portal.

At the End of the World embodies a resurgence of the heavy riffing, hard hitting, cynical attitude of what has made some the best eras of hard rock and metal as intense, energetic, and as powerful as it was always meant to be. “Our music is a brutal honesty to our views on the often horrifying, always exciting, journey of living and dying and all the experiences in between. We continue to progress with our style, which is unique to the five of us and our personal experiences” says bassist Andrew Brunetti.

When listening to their recent studio recordings (featuring tracks Save Yourself and Panic Pull) its obvious that their sound draws inspiration from a mix of bands, ranging from the twisted and genius creations of Alice in Chains and Tool to the head slamming power of metal legends such as Pantera and Meshugga.
