Singer-Songwriter/Multi-Instrumentalist Unveils One-Man-Band ROCK Record on the INTIMATE AUDIO label: Mannerisms Magnified

LOS ANGELES, CA — Written, arranged, performed, and engineered by multi-instrumentalist Dale Turner (recorded entirely within his living room and bedroom office), MANNERISMS MAGNIFIED is one of the most eclectic-yet surprisingly cohesive-rock albums conceived and executed by a lone musician in recent memory. (Imagine the haunting unpredictability of Radiohead, dynamic peaks/valleys of Jimmy Gnecco’s OURS, with a dose of King’s X heaviness and Mr. Bungle’s quirkiness, interspersed with Jeff Buckley and Elliott Smith-like introspective vocal moments-all polished off with Beach Boys/Brian Wilson-meets-Bobby McFerrin-style vocal arrangements and Jon Brion-esque instrumental bits.)

While the focus of this 12-song collection is clearly ‘presentation of songcraft,’ MANNERISMS MAGNIFIED is heavily propelled by Turner’s nuanced fretwork (acoustic and electric guitar influences that include the aforementioned Buckley and Smith, along with Steve Morse, Tommy Emmanuel, John Frusciante, Ani DiFranco, Ty Tabor, Andrew York, Jimi Hendrix, and Jeff Beck-many of whom Turner has had the privilege of conducting interviews/private lessons with at his former ‘job’) and wide-ranging vocal approaches (from eerie whispers, dreamy falsetto, and stunningly-intricate harmonies, to full-throttle rock wails, cartoon-like voices, and throat singing effects).

I was born in Anchorage, Alaska, and grew up in Miami, Florida, until my family and I headed up north to a small town near Tupelo, Mississiooi where my parents were born and rasied, call Pontotoc. By the age of sixteen we moved to Memphis, Tennessee.

My father could play anything with strings, a genuine guitar picker. He was my family’s musical inspiration and the one to get us in all the showa we played in from the time I was five. He has performed with the likes of Hank Williams Sr, Johnny Cash,Elvis Presley, and Ace Cannon to name a few. Marty Robbins was one of our cousins, and like my daddy was die hard Old Time Country. He called me Rock n’ Roll, and he loved it. We did a show on stage, a duet where he sang the old time version of “T for Texas” and I sang the Lynard Skynard version.

Song Title: Painted Desert

My sister, Judy Rodman, was the first to have success by using his teachings. She won many awards inculding 1985 Academy of Country Music’s New female Vocalist of The Year.” She had several hits beginning with her hit “Until I Met You’ and more recently she wrote LeAnn Rimes’ 1 “One Way Ticket (Because I Can)”.

I began writing my own music in the late 90′s. Judy and I co-wrote “Crack In My Armor,” which in Spring of 1997 was named song of the month by Music Row Weekly Magazine. It was the title cut on three different artists’ albums, Randy Khors being one. Many thanks to my sister Judy Rodman for helping me amplify my range to 4 and half octaves through her vocal training technique called “Power,Path, and Performance.”

My influences were The Birds, Lynard Skynard, Led Zeplin, Johnny Cash, Marty Robbins, and Ray Charles.

MASAKARI’s Morose Politi Crust To Be Issued By Southern Lord

GD Star Rating
a WordPress rating system

The brutal, metallic, crust punk attack of MASAKARI’s debut album shall ravage the world on June 8th, 2010 via Southern Lord Recordings.

MASAKARI unleash a devastating blend of d-beat crust and anxious hardcore descendant to His Hero Is Gone and From Ashes Rise, as well as more punk/crust founders G.I.S.M. and Discharge, and adopt these classic styles to their own point-blank, by-the-throat approach. Crushing, discordant riffing smashes its way through the barrage of ravenous drum battery, broken, eerie guitar leads entangled in the song structures, and all fueled by guttural, searing vocals that power the angry, socio-politically inspired lyrics.

Following a brutal 7″ on Halo of Flies Records, the quartet have taken their rage to the next level and constructed their relentless debut full-length The Prophet Feeds, bearing 10 tracks showcasing the band’s elevated songwriting, as well as their increasing hatred for governmental corruption, greed and atrocities against humanity. Engineered by Bill Korecky (Incantation, Keelhaul, Integrity) and recorded at Mars Studio in the band’s home town of Cleveland, The Prophet Feeds is an infectious, driving release sure to appease anybody with a hankering for some amazingly pissed-off, crustpunk rage.

Check out the track “Rapid Dominance” from The Prophet Feeds here:

MASAKARI will be heading to Europe later this month for an extended tour, with more details to be announced shortly. In the meantime they’ll be appearing at a few Midwest US shows to prepare for the onslaught.

INFECTIOUS GROOVES and CYCO MIKO To Unleash

Funk It Up and Punk It Up: Live In France 95 June 15th Via Suicidal Records

Suicidal Records is proud to announce the release of INFECTIOUS GROOVES/CYCO MIKO’s Funk It Up & Punk It Up: Live In France ‘95. Recorded live in Lyon, France in 1995 by soundman Tom Abraham straight from the board with zero sound alterations, this never-before-released double live gem features original INFECTIOUS GROOVES members Mike Muir (Suicidal Tendencies), Robert Trujillo (now with Metallica), Dean Pleasants (Suicidal Tendencies), Brooks Wackerman (Bad Religion) and Dave Nassie (former No Use For A Name; current Bleeding Through). The tour wound its way through Europe, with all the members pulling double duty playing INFECTIOUS GROOVES and CYCO MIKE sets each night. Check out the cover art here: http://tinyurl.com/y7xypaj

INFECTIOUS GROOVES was formed soon after Robert Trujillo joined SUICIDAL TENDENCIES in 1989. Muir and Trujillo got together with some friends to write song that centered more around the bass, but with the intent of giving everyone else a whole lot of freedom. “Sex Pistols and Parliament were my two favorite bands when I was young,” comments Muir. “People think they’re completely different but I saw a lot of similarities, even if musically they were categorized as completely different styles. There’s something beautiful about breaking rules that never should have been made.”

Suicidal Records will release Funk It Up & Punk It Up: Live In France ‘95 on June 15th, before the new INFECTIOUS GROOVES record hits stores later this year. Further details TBA.

STRUCK BY LIGHTNING Seek New Bassist

GD Star Rating
a WordPress rating system

STRUCK BY LIGHTNING’s debut full-length Serpents was released in late September 2009 via Translation Loss Records. The band’s intensely brutal and varied song structures on the record have continuously sucked in new listeners, garnishing amazing responses from the media as well as from anybody who has witnessed this beast on the prowl across the country over this past year’s live actions.

“…less proggy than Mastodon and less brooding than Baroness, but still as intense as both. We’re headbanging!” - Alternative Press

“I’m talking about D-beat anthems that are sad yet huge - funerals, revenge killings, and the wars that follow… Let’s hope lightning strikes again.” 8/10 - Decibel

“…sounds exhilarating, like a weight-relieved Mastodon.” 8/10 - Terrorizer

“…whatever the music’s path, the results are the same — annihilation you can almost hum.” 4/5 - Revolver

“Dexterous and occasionally quite complex music, it’s also got its share of anthemic choruses, pit-friendly breakdowns…” - Signal To Noise

“…a terrific middle ground between High on Fire, Mastodon, and Disfear. Punk song structures with driving tempos, great metallic guitar work, and stellar vocal parts make this record hard to pass up.” - Lambgoat.com

ROSETTA Announce Album Details New Song Ready For Consumption

GD Star Rating
a WordPress rating system

ROSETTA ROSETTA have posted a new track to their Myspace page, which has been fully revamped to accommodate the track and artwork from their highly-anticipated new full-length A Determinism of Morality, to be released on Translation Loss May 25th, 2010.

The expansive seven anthems that form A Determinism of Morality were recorded at Translator Audio by Andrew Schneider (City of Ships, Pelican, Unsane, Made Out Of Babies), and further progress the material from the band’s acclaimed 2007 sophomore release Wake/Lift, also released by Translation Loss. The layout features artwork by Mike Wohlberg of tFk! Illustration (Pelican, The Acacia Strain, A Life Once Lost).

Praised as one of the most powerful and creative bands with a hand in forging the post-rock/post-metal/metalgaze scene over the past seven years, the Philadelphia-based quartet have astounded audiences with each release. Previous releases from ROSETTA have been praised by Decibel, Revolver, Terrorizer, Metal Maniacs, Rock Sound, Lambgoat, Blabbermouth and countless more popular publications over the years. Bridging blissful, relaxing interludes with painful, cavernous riff assaults, all with an epic and forward-thinking approach, ROSETTA continue to cohesively expand the angles of their finite sound on A Determinism of Morality, taking their already massive approach to new paralyzing, infectious plateaus of metallic bliss.

ROSTETTA recently wrapped-up a national tour with labelmates CITY OF SHIPS and BATTLEFIELDS, AND will be touring the US heavily in support of the new release. They’ll also be returning to Europe for a second tour in 2010. Upcoming on-the-road activities for the year are in the planning phases and will be announced shortly.
