Bare” - An emotionally revealing collection of songs from the soul.
A prolific song writer, Kate Bowen’s insightful, well-crafted lyrics are deep and raw with emotion, bearing her soul about the human condition of love, loss and fear. Her melodies are memorable, translating her passionate voice into an emotional experience for the listener. Influenced by the likes of Carole King and Stevie Wonder, Kate fuses real emotion, with real music. Her style is refreshingly natural and superior to mainstream pop. But Kate’s sound is distinct, as unique as Sade, with a range, depth and fullness akin to Toni Braxton and Alicia Keys.
Kate grew up in a rural environment outside Toronto, excelling in music and languages. An Ontario scholar, Kate won the Aramark English award in her graduating year of high school, as well as a Millennium entrance scholarship for university. Recently she has been developing herself as a writer and artist, networking and building the necessary relationships to become successful. She has showcased in Toronto, Atlanta, and New York City.
In Canada she has written with David Grey of Parachute Club and Patrick Stephenson (“Who Let the Dogs out.”) In the United States she has worked with rap star Bubba Sparxxx, Alfred Williams (Cool and the Gang, Chaka Khan) Spec (Producer for Whitney Houston, Missy Elliott) and Za of Arrested Development. In Europe she wrote for the critically
acclaimed musical, “Freedom Sings” performed at the prestigious West Yorkshire Playhouse in England and was featured as a songwriter on BBC television network.
