Well-traveled Latin troubadour Carmelo Rosado, Jr., began displaying his musical wares at age 10, growing into a master vocalist and concert guitarist. As an adult, he swayed into the business world, launching a successful venture in Visalia, Calif. But Rosado still had music in his heart, and returns with the sentimental “Un Homenaje Para Mi Mejor Amigo, Mi Padre” (“A Tribute to My Best Friend, My Father”). The disc encompasses songs primarily written by Rosado, Sr., accompanied by proud brass, lush strings and acoustic guitar. Lead track “Guitarra Gitana”—or “Gypsy Guitar”—displays Rosado’s emotive baritone, as trumpet leads a background battle cry, amid a flush of guitars and maracas. Likewise, “Mujer Ingrata”—“Ungrateful Woman”—tells the sad tale of a lady who didn’t recognize the love before her; while the lovely “El Eco De Una Voz” (“The Echo Of A Voice”) again looks back upon sweeter times; while atmospheric “Brisas Del Palmar”—“Breezes Of The Palm Trees”—slows the pace with a lovely storytelling lyric, accompanied by romantic verses and a spoken-word interlude from our main man. Rosado’s effort will appeal to a mature audience captivated by tradition, with his tender but masculine vocal imprint, production that tickles the timeless and lyrics that stand by generations of love and loss.
A beautiful Musical Video of “Brisas Del Palmar” dedicated to Puerto Rico can be viewed on http://www.carmelorosadojr.com. The song poetically describes the true story of how thousands of Puertoriqueños traveled abroad during the 50’s and 60’s with the sincere intent of only leaving for a short while however, set roots and never return to their homeland but always feel the strong yearning to return…The song is a haven for those still abroad and sends a strong message to those on the Island that Puerto Rico will always be a part of their hearts.
